About The Empty Pink Chair campaign
In October of 2019, Regional Medical Imaging launched its first ever Empty Pink Chair campaign. The campaign took the community by storm and people from all over Mid-Michigan donated their lightly used wooden chairs. The chairs later received a face-lift, which involved many gallons of pink paint generously donated by Sherwin Williams on Miller Rd. After the chairs were all pinked out and ready to go, local businesses donated money to host a chair in order to raise awareness around the campaign.
The Empty Pink Chairs may appear slightly varied and different, but they all represent the same thing.
They are symbolic of the comfortable, familiar places that everyone’s loved ones use to enjoy while they lived their diverse lives to the fullest… before breast cancer took them away.
The message of the campaign is clear —
Don’t leave an empty chair for your family, get your annual mammogram.
It is because of the dedicated area businesses that this campaign continues to be a success year after year. Our gracious Title Sponsor, Skaff Furniture Carpet One, hosts the largest pink chair in Genesee County and patrons from all over see this large cozy chair laced in pink whenever they visit the showroom. Our sponsors continue to support the cause and message year after year and have made a monumental difference in the lives of local women going through breast cancer treatment.
All funds raised from The Empty Pink Chair campaign get donated directly back into the community. Regional Medical Imaging is a proud Community Partner with Hurley Medical Center and supports their Breast Cancer Navigation Program. Funds are also donated to both the American Cancer Society and The Pink Fund, which both help to aide women all throughout Michigan.
Where does the money go?
Regional Medical Imaging donates to the Hurley Breast Cancer Navigation Program,
the American Cancer Society, and The Pink Fund.
Regional Medical Imaging directs its donations to a host of Genesee County-based orgnizations including the American Cancer Society, and The Pink Fund.
It is RMI’s commitment that funds raised through The Empty Pink Chair campaign benefit residents of Genesee County regardless of their cancer diagnosis or which medical treatment facility they choose for treatment.
RMI simply wants to help those who need assistance most in navigating this difficult time.
The American Cancer Society is able to help on both a national and local level. Regional Medical Imaging requests that the funds donated remain local to best serve our patients.
The Pink Fund is a national organization as well, which was founded in southeast Michigan. The Pink Fund works very similar to Hurley’s program, where women going through breast cancer treatment can submit an application to receive financial assistance. Members of a volunteer committee go through and read these applications, making sure the applicants meet the requirements, and grant appropriate funding.
The Empty Pink Chair campaign has raised nearly $40,000 in the past 4 years!
It is because of dedicated leading community businesses that this astonishing number is possible.
We would love to have a recorded-breaking year this year and our goal is to raise $20,000!
